Hawza News Agency- the ceremony — held annually under the auspices of Sharif Al-Hajj Abdul Qadir Sarkan Baki — took place this year over two days, from Saturday to Sunday, September 12–13, 2026, in Kano.
This year's event introduced a new method of gift distribution, with cars and motorcycles presented to a number of individuals named after the Holy Prophet (PBUH), Imam Ali (AS), Imam Hassan (AS), Imam Hussein (AS).
Sewing machines and other household necessities were also distributed among a number of people bearing the names of the Prophet's family, including Sayyida Amina, Sayyida Fatima, and Sayyida Khadija (AS).
In another part of the program, aimed at supporting the needy and alleviating their economic hardships, more than 200 bags of rice were distributed among impoverished individuals, bringing joy and encouragement during the Prophet's birthday celebrations.
The ceremony also honored a number of people bearing the names of the Prophet's caliphs, each of whom received special gifts in addition to a cash prize of 300,000 naira (over $200).
Suleiman S. Oziri was also awarded a large residential home in recognition of his efforts and contributions in composing praise poetry for the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and his Ahl al-Bayt.
The birthday celebration featured a variety of programs, including religious lectures, sermons and guidance, eulogies in praise of the Holy Prophet (PBUH), honoring individuals, and supporting various segments of society.
Organizers described the Prophet's birthday celebration as an opportunity to express love and reverence for the Prophet and his family, emphasizing the importance of using the occasion to support the needy and bring happiness to the people.
